Does Size Really Matter?

My intent was to make myself a largish knitting bag. I followed the pattern instructions completely. Well, except for doubling the yarn as I knit it and using size 15 needles instead of size 11. Oh, and using a completely different yarn than the pattern calls for. Other than that, honestly, I followed the instructions completely.

So now to seam the sides, add an i-cord edge at the top, felt it (here’s where the bag might breathe new life) and then figure out what kind of handles to put on it that won’t completely fail when I try to pick the bag up. Stay tuned. It’ll either be a fabulous bag, or I’ll be able to smuggle Rhode Island through airport security.

I knit my handles right onto my bag. That way the handle was as strong as the bag once it was felted. Good luck.

That is HUGE right now. I wonder how well it will shrink?!

That seriously resembles a bag I once made – very loosely based on the fiber trends felted tote pattern. Very, very loosely. I made it in yarn I had kool-aid dyed, and it was bright neon colors, and was the size of a small sleeping bag for my then 1 year old nephew. My family gave me all kinds of crap about it, until it was felted down into a gorgeous large tote. Oh yeah – and they thought it resembled a Jamaican hat (supersized) and like to refer to it as my "pot" bag. Yours is beautiful. I vote that if it doesn't felt down small enough for a bag, you use it as a pot for a very large plant.

If it doesn't shrink, you could just cover a sheep and confuse everyone! Love the pic! -PJ-

Oh my goodness! That is so funny! WOuldn't it be funnier still if when you felted it, it ended up small enough to haul a chihuahua? *grins*

Do post the finished product-I am dying to see!
